Perfume Pagoda.jpg

Located on the banks of the Red River, Hanoi is one of the world's most ancient capitals. Though considerably quieter than its big sister, Saigon, Hanoi retains a vibrant atmosphere. The 'Old Quarter' is the historic heart of Hanoi and maintains its originality and authenticity. It is home to over 1000 years of trade and commerce with no signs of slowing down. Nicknamed the “Paris of the East,” Hanoi offers a plethora of unique cultural and geographical facets that include: delicious cuisines, beautiful green boulevards, historical monuments, and colonial architecture. Vietnam’s capital city also serves as the gateway to the spectacular Ha Long Bay.

Day 3 -  February 23

We will explore Hanoi on a special city tour that will include Perfume Pagoda, shrines of Vietnamese Buddhists, and the Old Quarter. In the evening, we will get our first taste of Vietnamese nightlife.

Day 4 - February 24th - Ha Long Bay

vietnam.jpg

Ha Long Bay (“Where the Dragon Descends to the Sea”) is Mother Nature's gift to the world. This spectacular water garden is dotted with 1,600 islands and islets with pristine beaches, limestone caves, inland lakes, and floating villages.  We will spend the day floating around this water wonderland, with a stop in Thien Cung Cave. Take in the incredible scenery, relax, or enjoy an optional kayaking session.

Thien Cung Cave, also called Heaven Palace Cave, is the most beautiful primitive cave of the Bay (see the video above). The huge cave is 25m above sea level with an impression width of 10.000 square meters and a unique structure made of stalactites and stalagmites in special forms and shapes. According to legend, the cave was the ancient residence of the Dragon King and his beautiful bride May.

Day 5 -
February 25th - Da Nang

Dragon-Bridge-Da-Nang-Vietnam-1200x853.j

Have an early morning boxed breakfast before heading to the airport for your flight to Da Nang, The City of Bridges, which is the halfway point between the northern capital of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in the south. The coastal city is an example of Vietnam’s evolution. Once a sleepy seaside port, Danang has transformed into a thriving, modern city with a  white sandy beach coastline. Upon arrival, we will have a city tour that will include Linh Ung Bai But Pagoda with the Lady Buddha. The statue stands almost 120 feet high and is the largest in Vietnam. The day will end with dinner on the water front.

Day 6February 26th - Ba Na Hills

Ba Na Hills.jpeg

Ba Na Hills is one of the newest and most exciting projects in Vietnam. It’s a mountain top resort complex that resembles a massive medieval castle. The Gothic-inspired buildings are nothing short of amazing. For a moment, you will think you are in a sort of Vietnamese version of France. We will visit a Wine Cellar and Le Jardin D’Amour Garden. There’s a 27-metre tall Buddha and the newly added and now-famous Golden Bridge. Its giant hands hold the bridge itself, providing an unforgettable panoramic view of the valley. Cable cars will transport us from the bottom to the top at Ba Na Hills, and are a large part of the whole experience. They hold Guinness records for being “The longest non-stop single track cable car” and “The highest non-stop single track cable car.” During the ride up, you will view landscapes of lush vegetation and the Toc Tien Waterfall. The day will be a balance of guided tours and free time to explore alone or with your new friends.

The shape of the Golden Bridge looks like a woman holding a stripe of yellow silk with her hands. These two giant stone hands reach out to heaven from Ba Na Mountain, like a ruin from ancient times.

Day 7 February 27thTra Que and Hoi An

Tra-Que-vegetable-Village-Hoi-An-Culture

The first stop in the countryside is Tra Que, also known as the Vegetable Village. What sets Tra Que Vegetable Village apart from its counterparts is the absence of any chemicals or harsh fertilizers used in the growing process of its vegetation. This means less harmful, fresher, and cleaner produce to the table; you will only be consuming food the best of quality. Each morning, locals head to the lagoon and harvest special algae to assist with the growing of vegetables. This is truly one of the unique factors which make this Vegetable Village so special and unlike anything you have tasted.  Get your hands dirty while harvesting produce for your meal. After eating , we will ride buffalos. Yes, buffalos. Come on, you knew there would be an animal ride somewhere on the tour.

Buffalos play a vital role in farming. Not many people know that buffalos contributed to the success of the Vietnamese Revolution against foreign invaders. They have become a powerful symbol in Vietnamese culture.

Next, float down the river in a fisherman's basket boat or coracle, as they are called, along the central coast of Vietnam. The boats are woven by hand from very young bamboo and covered in tar or resin to waterproof the boat. Learning to steer these boats without spinning around in circles takes training and skill.

2(86).jpg

Our final stop for the day will be Hoi An (which translates to "peaceful meeting place"), a coastal village set on the banks of the Thu Bon River. Although it is becoming increasing popular with tours, Hoi An still retains its old world charm and authenticity. Hoi An is one of the few Vietnamese cities that was not damaged during the Vietnam War. Hoi An is remarkable for its lanterns. Thousand of colorful lanterns hang overhead around the village, adding a kaleidoscope of beauty to the sky. Some shops can make custom lanterns from fabric for you to take home. This well-preserved trading port dates back to the 15th century, and still provides great shopping and incredible food. You will have free time to enjoy both!

Day 8February 28th -   Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

 Ho Chi Minh City.jpg

Early transfer to the airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh. Unapologetically exhilarating and a bit lawless, Ho Chi Minh City has flourished into one of the crown jewels of Southeast Asia. With new skyscrapers constantly jockeying for the top spot, this city is bursting with development. New buildings, bars, restaurants and parks open at such an incredible rate that it can be hard to keep up with it all. Upon arrival, you will have a city tour.

Day 9 - February 29th - Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

tunnels.jpg
design-of-cu-chi-tunnels.jpg

The city tour will include a visit to the underground Củ Chi tunnels, used by Viet Cong soldiers as hiding spots during the war with the United States. They served as communication and supply routes, and housed hospitals, food, weapons, and living quarters. In the evening, get a taste of Ho Chi Minh night life.
