ITINERARY

Italy's Amalfi coastline is simply breathtaking and understandably world-renowned – UNESCO rates it as ‘an area of great physical beauty and natural diversity’. If you wish to experience a glimpse of heaven on land and gaze at spectacular panoramas, this is the tour for you.

The Island of Sicily, located between the main land of Italy and and northern Africa, Sicily has been at the crossroads from many civilizations for thousands of years. Sicily has absorbed traditions from the ancient Greeks to the Romans, Moors, Normans, Spanish, French, and finally Italians.  This mixture  has developed into an uniquely different culture that other parts of Italy.  So much so, that the people of Sicily are quick to remind you that they are not Italian, they are Sicilian.

Sicily’s landscape is just as varied, its has a stunning coastline with wide sweeping bays of clear blue water,  citrus and olive groves, and views of the Mount Etna volcano with its microclimates that is great for grape growing. Ahhh ... Sicilian wine! You will find diversity everywhere from  bustling cities like Taormina to beautiful quaint towns and villages like Noto (Sicilian: Notu ).    Let's not forget about Sicilian cusine.
Oh dio mio (oh my God)!

After all, the Italian capital offers the perfect combination of food, culture, history and nightlife; what more could you ask for during your first stop in Italy.  With historical sights like the Colosseum, the Sistine Chapel, the Pantheon, Vatican City, you will understand why "Rome was not built in a day."

Ravello-©-Vaghis-viaggi-turismo-Italia-T

Early morning you depart for Naples. Located under the shadow of Mt. Vesuvius, only a few kilometers north of the gateway to the Amalfi Coast. Naples is much more lively, especially at night compared to the towns and villages of the Amalfi, which are stunningly beautiful, but can be a bit dull in the evenings. On your arrival into Naples, you are off to the Amalfi coast village of  Ravello.  Ravello is one of the most charming towns on the Amalfi Coast. he town's villas offer vivid vantage points for the views. Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo are famous for their encompassing panoramas. Photos cannot truly prepare you for the beauty. Later return Naples for a walking tour and dinner along the sea.

Day 4 - Wednesday, September 20th: Positano

Iten11.jpg

No words or pictures can prepare  you for the beauty that is Positano, the jewel of the Amalfi coast.  Positano is  landscape is stunning on land, but its beauty is better viewed while sailing the Tyrrhenian Sea,  You will spend the day on land and sea, sailing and wandering the medieval narrow street filled with colorful shops and restaurants.

Sicily

Iten13.jpg

Today, you are off to Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean. It lies on the Ionian Sea, under the shadow of Mount Etna and is and ancient land of conquest that never ceases to fascinate and inspire. The landscape is varied, the food is fantastic, and it has some of the best white sand beaches in Europe. For more than 3,000 years, myriad civilizations discovered, conquered, and made their mark on Sicily's shores, contributing to the island's treasure trove of history, art, culture, tradition and folklore.

Day 5 - Thursday. September 21st: Catania, Sicily

Iten12.jpg

Catania, sitting in the shadow of Mount Etna, is Sicily’s second city. Despite its proximity to the Mount Etna volcano and many of Sicily’s tourist highlights (the baroque hilltop towns and smart seaside villages of the east coast), the city itself remains off the main tourist path. The active center is chock full of frilly baroque and a vibrant nightlife.   After arrival you will have a walking tour, followed by some free time to explore.  Later enjoy for first evening of Sicilian night life.

.

It has a well-heeled ‘grand tour’ feel which is topped off by its ancient ruins and view over the bay to Etna. The main town is perched upon a clifftop with breathtaking views. There’s a cable car linking the town to its beaches and seafront promenade down below. It’s colourful, busy, scenic, and funThe  In Taromina you will have a guided tour that will include a stop at Greek-Roman Theatre of Taormina, built in the 3rd century B.C. from the Greeks, it was then modified by the Romans.  Bring your good credit card, the shopping is amazing.

Iten20.jpg

Syracuse (or Siracusa) rises on the south-eastern coast of Sicily, at the mouth of the Anapo and Ciane rivers. For several centuries Syracuse was one of the most powerful and important Greek colonies in the world and for this reason Cicero described it as “the largest and most beautiful of all Greek cities.”  To this day, it is considered one of the most  beautiful cities in Italy.  The center is all gleaming white baroque. The tiny island of Ortigia is the heart of the medieval old town and is connected by several bridges. Here you’ll find a bustling food market, a Byzantine castle, archaeological treasures, and buzzing cafe life.   Later in the evening,  party to an open air night location.  Remember, what happens in Italy, stays in Italy.  :)
