Hello, Chongqing!

A futuristic city that climbs into the clouds and refuses to make sense in a straight line. Buildings have ground-level entrances on the 1st, 12th and 20th floors. Trains glide straight through apartment buildings. Even the locals get lost, and Google Maps may not save you.

By day, you stumble across hillside shops and cafés, incredible river views and spicy Chongqing dishes served in former underground bomb shelters.

​

By night, Chongqing transforms. Bridges glow, towers flicker and the entire skyline feels cinematic, almost like you’ve stepped into the future.

 

And then there’s Dazu, where massive centuries-old figures carved into sandstone reveal yet another side of China entirely. Ancient, intricate and a world away from what most travelers know.

​

Sometimes the best places to travel are the ones your friends haven’t been to yet.
